Special Education – Two product areas are particularly supportive of special needs programs. The health software programs are very visual and interactive. They have been used successfully with children with autism and Asperger’s Syndrome. Corefx Three Level is a creativity program that facilitates expression by special needs students through images. Symbols can be loaded into the program. The Stamps Plus CD ROM contains a number of symbol sets.
GATE – The self-paced learning environments of the Math Course Series and the Language Arts Companion Series render these courses highly effective with Gifted and Talented students in elementary school. The corefx Three Level software has progressive levels of difficulty and will also be very supportive of creative development in students in GATE programs.
After School & Summer School Programs – The fundamental math and literacy skill development offered by the Math Course Series and the Language Arts Companion Series render these programs as valuable for K-12 after school and summer school programs. They are also suitable for adult education programs and preparation for GED exams.
Project Based Learning – Cross-curricular project modules can integrate technology with instruction and engage students. Teacher Resources – Core Learning offers licenses to use digital learning objects and lessons for classroom presentation in the subjects of math, language arts and health. Health Lesson Builder software and Course content licenses can be purchased from Core Learning. Many of the math and language arts resources are also available by subscription from the Global Grid for Learning ( www.globalgridforlearning.com ) or from SMART Learning Marketplace ( www.learningmarketplace.smarttech.com ).
Whiteboards and Computer Peripherals – All Core Learning products and teacher resources display well on interactive whiteboards. The corefx Three Level program is very effective presentation software for teachers and students to use in the classroom with an interactive whiteboard ( e.g. SMARTboard or Promethean Activboard) or with a projector and screen. Mobile mouse pad slates with a mouse stylus (e.g. RM Classpad sold by Core Learning) give teachers mobility in the classroom and finger-tip control of the corefx drawing tools. The corefx program is not merely touch sensitive but also pressure-sensitive when used with pressure-sensitive peripherals (e.g. Wacom Graphire, Intuos or Cintiq products). The Crayola® Art Studio product from Core Learning has these same characteristics as corefx.
